Arsenal player ratings vs West Ham: Exquisite Martin Odegaard creates two goals

A first-half penalty from Said Benrahma was canceled out by Bukayo Saka’s calm finish against Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah secured the points.

This is how Mikel Arteta’s team described it at the Emirates…

Aaron Ramsdale – 6

A spectator even facing Benrahma’s penalty and guessing wrong. Spectator later too, even a brilliant save to deny Pablo Fornals in the last minutes.

ben white – 7

He returned straight to Arsenal after his early release from England’s World Cup camp and played well. He bonded very well with Saka and was featured on the cover several times.

Guillermo Saliba – 5

He returned to the starting eleven after being an unused substitute in the World Cup final eight days ago, but looked rusty and conceded a penalty.

The most impressive of Arsenal’s central midfielders, which hasn’t been the case too often this season.

Kieran Tierney-6

Overlapping runs provide a different threat for Oleksandr Zinchenko, but the spirited Jarrod Bowen has had a hard time going the other way.

Thomas Partey – 7

He came up with the kind of expended effort that has suddenly become his signature. Excellent entry on Declan Rice stopped a dangerous break.

Xhaka Granite – 7

Again a threat in attack in the advanced role of left midfield and set up Martinelli’s goal.

Martin Odegaard – 9

An exquisite display. Guilty of trying to be too cute on the edge of the box on a couple of occasions, he then pulled the trigger, scraped it and played Saka with the pass he had been dreaming of equalizing. He also sets up Nketiah’s goal.

Bukayo Saka – 8

Unfortunate that his little touch saw his own would-be starter scored for offside. He got the leveler with a simple spike past Lukasz Fabianski.

Eddie Nketiah – 8

Ready to run in the starting eleven after the injury to Gabriel Jesús. Encouraging signs in terms of link play and then he bowled Thilo Kehrer in for a brilliant goal.

Gabriel Martinelli – 8

On the receiving end of a real but undisturbed and misled kick by Fabianski at the near post to put Arsenal ahead.

Oleksandr Zinchenko (Tierney 73′) – 6

Fabio Vieira (Martinelli 88′) – N/A

Mohamed Elneny (Match 90′) – N/A

Unused: Turner, Holding, Cedric, Lokonga, Vieira, Marquinhos, Cozier-Duberry .
