Man City XI vs Leeds: Predicted lineup, confirmed team news and injury latest for Premier League game today

Dias will be sidelined for a month with a hamstring injury, while Álvarez has been given time off after helping Argentina win the World Cup.

City manager Pep Guardiola has said England midfielder Kalvin Phillips was “overweight” when he returned from the World Cup and that Leeds’ £45m summer signing will not feature against his former club in Elland Rd.

“He is not injured,” Guardiola said. “He arrived overweight.”

When asked why, Guardiola replied: “I don’t know. He did not arrive in condition for training and to play ”.

Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Ake are set to compete for Dias’ place at the left side of City’s central defensive partnership. Both played in the Carabao Cup win over Liverpool on Thursday, when Erling Haaland was again among the goals after a World Cup break.

Kyle Walker and Joao Cancelo were unused substitutes in that game and should be named in the starting line-up, while Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva and Jones Stones push to return to the XI.

Predicted Manchester City XI: Ederson; Walker, Piedras, Laporte, Cancelo; Silva, Rodri, De Bruyne; Mahrez, Haaland, Foden. .
