arcus Rashford He is confident that Manchester United have not lost the will to win titles despite the growing drought on the trophy front.
Rashford said: “The Man united The team is Manchester United and we all play for the shield and the club, something that I have dreamed of since I was a child.
“And for the players we sign, they see Manchester United as the great club that it is and they want to give everything they can for the shield. And those things remain the same whether you are in good times or bad.
“I know we are in a difficult time right now, but desire and ambition never change.”
The forward spoke from Windsor Castle after an investiture ceremony for the MBE which was awarded following his campaign to help underprivileged children.
Rashford ran a high-profile campaign last year to persuade the government to provide free meals vulnerable young people in England during school holidays during the coronavirus pandemic, forcing Prime Minister Boris Johnson to take a 180-degree turn.
He said: “It seems like a lot is going on, but for me, to put it in the simplest way, I’m trying to give children the things that I didn’t have as a child. If I had, I would have been so much better and I would have had a lot more options in my life.
“I’m just giving them the chance and I think they deserve the chance, what kid doesn’t? For me it is a punishment for them not to receive things like meals or book supplies.
“And if we can all come together to make these small changes, they are small changes but they become big changes once you see their rewards, I see a generation that will come after me as a very special generation.
“They just need a little guidance and point in the right direction and what I’m doing is giving them that.”
