Romelu Lukaku calls on Belgium to hire Thierry Henry as next manager: ‘There are no doubts’

The Inter Milan striker, who played in 104 games for his country but failed to add to his 68 goals in a torrid World Cup campaign, has stated that he “has no doubts” about signing the Arsenal legend.

Henry completed his second term as Belgium’s assistant coach for roberto martinez in Qatar after leaving in 2018 for stints in charge of Monaco and the Montreal Impact.

The 45-year-old left the Canadian team so he could spend more time with his family in London, but Lukaku believes he is the ideal candidate to try to revive the Red Devils after Martinez’s departure.

“For me, Henry is the next coach of Belgium,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “There is no doubt, I say it openly: he will be the next coach.

“He has the respect of all the players, he has won everything. He knows how to train, he knows what we have to do to get there.

“He wants to win, and I don’t think the federation is going to have a coach who wants to change everything and start from scratch.” .
