Howe downplays Fernández’s speech

Eddie Howe has played down talk of Newcastle by making a move for Enzo Fernandez.

The Benfica midfielder shone for Argentina at the World Cup as his country went all the way, collecting the Young Player of the Tournament award.

“I’m aware of him and I know him,” Howe said. “But I think the transfer fee could be quite hefty!”

Alan Shearer suggested during his BBC commentary that Fernández would look good at Newcastle, although Howe missed those comments for good reason.

How he responded: “I apologize to Alan, I was on the other channel!”

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has insisted there is no rush to enter into talks with Lionel Messi about his future at the club.

Josko Gvardiol is far from the only name on Chelsea’s radar in January.
