Wesley Fofana downplays injury blow with Chelsea defender set for fresh scan

helsea advocate Wesley Fofana has moved to reassure fans that his injury is not a cause for concern.

The 22-year-old was forced to retire during a closed-doors friendly over Premier league rivals Brentford at Cobham, a match in which Kai Havertz scored a hat-trick.

Fofana’s first few months at Stamford Bridge have been frustrating after picking up a knee injury against AC Milan in October, forcing him to miss the World Cup.

The defender, who recently returned to full training during the international break, is now set up for a scan but he posted a message on Instagram in which he seemed to downplay the severity of the injury.

“Not bad, champion, not even 1 month, we broke everything again,” he wrote in response to a publication detailing his injury.

Manager Graham Potter is due to hold a press conference on Friday ahead of Chelsea’s return to domestic action at home to Bournemouth on December 27. .
